Williston : North Dakota

Williston, a county seat of Williams County was named after S. Willis James, a railroad owner. Williston is on the Missouri River. Located near the confluence of the Yellowstone River and the Missouri River, at the upper end of the Lake Sakakawea reservoir, it covers a area of 18.2 km² (7.0 mi²).

The seasonal weather in Williston experiences cold winters and hot summers with temperature averaging 70 degrees F during peak summer. Summer receives more precipitation than winter months. Snow may fall from October through April with about seven inches of snow per month during the middle of winter.

Population: 12,193 as on 2005
